Here at Florida Psychological Associates, we are focused on

In doing so, we thrive working behind the scenes and do as

much as we can show appreciation to all of our staff. This

is an exciting day on FPA Today because we are bringing

one of our outstanding therapists, Marykate Wihnyk

into the limelight for a moment.


Marykate is a graduate of the University of Florida, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Psychology. She then received her Master's Degree of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Florida. Marykate has taken the time to answer a few questions about herself, get to know her below:



1. What is your favorite quote?
- "Anyone can slay a dragon ...but try waking up every morning and loving the world all over again. That's what takes a real hero." - Brian Andreas

2. Why did you become a therapist? 
- I became a therapist because I so wish I had someone to confide in and help me with the challenges of adolescence and young adulthood. I also really love talking to people! 

3. Describe yourself in 5 words. 
- Silly, supportive, kind, loud, and fierce. 

4. What is one thing you could never live without?

- Air conditioning. 

5. What gets you out of bed in the morning?

- My dogs crying at me to take them out.  

6. Do you have any hidden talents? What are they?

- I can juggle! 

7. What gets you out of bed in the morning?
- My dogs crying at me to take them out.  

8. What you would say to yourself at age 13? 
- "Go to that pool party and wear that bathing suit! You look beautiful!"

9. What is your favorite part about working for FPA? 
- Everyone is so supportive and I learn so much from my brilliant co-workers. AND we have a therapy dog!!!  

10. What is one thing that you want our readers to know about you?
-  I once worked on a dude ranch and gave a guest appearance as a rodeo clown.
