Karen graduated from the University of North Florida in 1997 with a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology. She has been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2000 and has been practicing as a therapist for over 20 years. Karen has worked in various settings over the years, both community mental health settings and in private practice.

Karen's areas of specialization include working with children and their parents to solve common childhood issues such as anxiety, behavior problems, school performance issues, and childhood grief or loss. Growing up in a military family, Karen knows the adjustment challenges faced by many children of those who serve.

Another area of specialization is in helping adults who have experienced childhood abuse, neglect, or trauma. Adverse childhood events can have lasting effects on how individuals view the world and relationships. Often patterns learned in childhood are unconsciously repeated leading to difficulty in the present. Karen works with adults to unravel the effects of their childhood and improve the quality of their present lives.

You will find Karen seeing her clients at our office in Fernandina Beach during the week.
