Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Nova Southeastern University

Chalow Austin worked in the hospitality industry for sixteen years prior to making a career transition in 2015 to pursue her passion in psychology and mental health counseling. She graduated from the University of North Florida with a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology. During her time at UNF, she engaged in partnered and collaborative research that has been presented on the local news and featured in “Think Like a Girl” by Dr. Tracy Alloway. She also engaged in an invaluable undergrad practicum experience at Florida Psychological Associates. She went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. She has the unique experience of engaging in two internship sites during her time at Nova where she facilitated psychosocial rehabilitation groups for individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent and co-occurring disorders at Quality Life Center and she worked with individuals in an acute inpatient crisis stabilization unit at Wekiva Springs located in Jacksonville, Florida. She is a current member of AMHCA and Psi Chi. Chalow is honored to come alongside and support her clients on their journey to self-discovery and healing while implementing practical and positive techniques that foster empowerment, hope, and wellness. When she is not seeing clients, Chalow enjoys going to the beach, venturing out in nature, engaging in DIY crafts and projects, reading educational and inspirational books, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

You will find Chalow seeing clients at our office in Fernandina Beach during the week.
