Michael Gilman

Master's Degree Student Intern

Liberty University

Michael Gilman served aboard submarines and will soon be retiring from the US Navy. He is an intern counselor who has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University. Currently, he is finishing his master’s program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. For the past five years he has also served as a Career Counselor, helping others identify and meet career goals as well as personal life goals.

Michael has also served the community as a volunteer fire fighter and EMT which has created a passion for working with the veteran and first responder community because he understands the stress and sacrifice members of both communities endure. In addition to his career work, Michael serves at his local church on the safety and security team.

In sessions, Michael utilizes a strength-based approach with clients to help address their concerns from a place of self-worth and value. Michael looks forward to working with teens and adults, primarily using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. He also enjoys having conversations about faith and spirituality and can incorporate this into session for any clients who request this as part of counseling.
